Learning in Aged Care

Students in the Aged Care learning laboratory. In this space the students can develop their practical skills on the simulated 'ward', work together and learn with a range of technology, online and visual resources. There is lifting equipment, a shower and laundry space as well as 'patients' to take of.

  1. A room like this should be at every school thet have students in VET program for caring, but at the one I was at, no room like this existed

  2. I agree with Adele. You seem to have a high standard in your learning laboratory. The "health and social care program," which leads to a nursing assistant certificate, receives the least fundings of all swedish VET programs. Therefore the schools often have to ask medical companies for free medical materials such as needels and compresses. The equipment, such as beds and dummies, is usually quite old.

  4. Hi everyone, yes we know that we are very lucky to have the teaching room like this. The area of aged care learning is in very high demand in Australia and our TAFE NSW Riverina Institute has been lucky to secure funding from our Government to build this new room. It makes learning fun as well as realistic. Our students will work in facilities with older people or they may go on to study nursing at university.

    1. Hello Di! I wonder if it is possible to come to you on a field trip? It would be good to see how you work, so you can also come here and see how we work?
