Practical examination
Here the students are having a practical examination where they learn how to clean a "patient" and to change the sheets of the bed. (Of course it's a dummy in the photo).

  1. Yes, "the patient" look a little pale, I think its very good to do the bed whit a pupil in it. Then they can feel how helpless you can feel when the personal is putting you side to side, its not a good felling and its a big risk that you are getting seasick.

    1. Hi Mairone, I think you are right about students learning what it feels like to be cared for. Some of the techniques our teachers use include practicing to feed other students and brushing their teeth. It helps to learn what it feels like to be cared for.

    2. Hi Mairone! Yes, I agree that it's vital that the students learn how it feels to be a patient in order to learn empathy for example.

  2. Hi Lena, we have just purchased some very new "patients" for our students and they look and feel very realistic. We also have the baby patients for our students to learn first aid and resuscitation.

    1. Hi Di! It's good that the "patients" look and feel realistic, however sometimes it's also important that the students practice on each other, like you mentioned in an earlier comment. In that way they learn empathy.

  3. Hi Lena, You are so right that it is important that students sometimes also need to practice practical elements on each other. This increases their understanding of what it means to be the person who needs the help.
