These "patients" can be used for learning many tasks which nursing assistants must master. But of course, there will always be a great difference between practising on a dummy at school and caring for real people at e.g. a hospital.

  1. I agree that there is a diffrent from real patients, but for student it is a good way to learn, so they know a littel bit before they meet real patients.

    1. That´s true. These dummies are similar to humans in some respects - they pretty much have the same joints as a real human being. To transfer a dummy between two places is not very unlike transferring a real person who´s paralyzed (but not as heavy).

  3. Yes, it's good to be able to practice on non real patients when learning different tasks, however I believe that sometimes it's also good to practice on each other so that the students get to experience how it feels to be a patient for real. That way they learn empathy.

  4. Hi Jonas,You are so right that it is important that students sometimes need to practice practical elements on each other. This increases their understanding of what it means to be the person who needs help.

    1. I agree with both of you, Lena and Laila. A good and sometimes necessary way to learn epathy is to try to walk in someone else's shoes....
