Photo 4



Two students about to take a venous blood test on this rubber arm. It's no challenge - they have already performed it on real patients' arms during their workplace-based training. I'm to blame for the absence of gloves on this photo.

  1. Oh dear the old rubber arm it very ugly and have the bloodvecels on the outside, more or less, That is not a piece of equipment that I miss. And I´ll never do

  2. In what way are you required to wear protective gloves are not available during blood sampling? I'm curious.

  3. Most teachers I have encountered tell their students to wear gloves while they perform blood samples. The gloves do not provide any protection from the needle of course - I think it´s just a hygiene precaution, pretty much like other situations when you use protective gloves. But yes, I know that "IRL" gloves are oftenly not used while taking blood samples.
