Two students about to take a venous blood test on this rubber arm. It's no challenge - they have already performed it on real patients' arms during their workplace-based training. I'm to blame for the absence of gloves on this photo.

Most teachers I have encountered tell their students to wear gloves while they perform blood samples. The gloves do not provide any protection from the needle of course - I think it´s just a hygiene precaution, pretty much like other situations when you use protective gloves. But yes, I know that "IRL" gloves are oftenly not used while taking blood samples.

In what way are you required to wear protective gloves are not available during blood sampling? I'm curious.
